How to Handle Detected Malicious Files

When a threat is detected, BoostonCP automatically isolates it in the Quarantine Vault. This prevents the malicious code from being executed on your website. Follow this manual to manage these items.

Step 1: Access the Quarantine Ledger

  1. Navigate to the "Quarantine" tab.
  2. Review the list of infected files. Each entry displays the file path and the identified threat name (e.g., PHP.Shell.Generic).

Step 2: Taking Action

For each item, you can perform the following protocols:

  • Restore: If you verify that the file is safe (a False Positive), click restore to return it to its original path.
  • Permanent Wipe: Click the trash icon to erase the file from the disk permanently.
  • Code Audit: Open the file in the restricted viewer to see the malicious code before deciding.
CRITICAL NOTE: If you find malicious files in your account, it is likely that your CMS (WordPress/Joomla) or one of its plugins is outdated. Update your software immediately after cleaning.
