How to Create FTP Accounts for File Transfer

Follow this manual to establish FTP identities that allow you to manage your files using desktop clients like FileZilla.

Step 1: Create a New FTP Account

  1. Navigate to FTP Access from your User Dashboard.
  2. FTP User: Enter a prefix (BoostonCP will add your username prefix automatically).
  3. Directory Path: Select the domain or folder this user should be restricted to.
  4. Access Key: Set a strong password or click "Sync" to generate one.
  5. Click "Establish Access".

Step 2: Client Synchronization (FileZilla)

Use the following telemetry to connect your desktop client:

  • Host: Your Server IP or Hostname.
  • Username: The full username (e.g., user_dev).
  • Port: Typically 21.

Step 3: Managing Existing Accounts

In the FTP Ledger, you can see all active identities. Use the "Action Matrix" to change passwords or delete access points that are no longer required.

SECURITY NOTE: Restricted FTP accounts cannot navigate outside their assigned folder. This is perfect for granting temporary access to web developers.
