Comprehensive Step-by-Step Migration Guide

This manual provides the exact procedure for migrating your entire infrastructure from a traditional cPanel/WHM server to a high-performance BoostonCP node using our Neural Importer.

Step 1: Preparation (Source Server)

Before initiating the uplink, perform these checks on your source cPanel server:

  1. Ensure SSH Access is enabled for the root user.
  2. If you have a firewall (like ConfigServer Security & Firewall - CSF), whitelist the IP address of your new BoostonCP server to allow high-speed data transmission.
  3. Verify that the source accounts are not "Suspended" unless you specifically want to migrate them in that state.

Step 2: Initializing the Neural Bridge

  1. Log in to your BoostonCP Admin Panel.
  2. Navigate to Migration Center > cPanel Importer.
  3. Remote IP: Enter the IPv4 address of your old cPanel server.
  4. SSH Port: Usually 22 (unless you have customized it).
  5. Root Password: Enter the master root password of the source server.
  6. Click "ESTABLISH LINK". The system will now perform a handshake with the remote core.

Step 3: Selecting and Transmitting Accounts

  1. Once the link is established, BoostonCP will display a Grid of Accounts found on the cPanel server.
  2. Select the individual accounts you wish to move, or click "Select All" for a full server migration.
  3. Click "INITIALIZE TRANSMISSION".

Step 4: Monitoring the Shadow Copy Protocol

During the migration, you can monitor the real-time log. BoostonCP executes the following automatically:

  • Data Compression: Creating a "Shadow Archive" on the source server.
  • High-Speed Sync: Moving the archive via encrypted SCP tunnel.
  • Neural Extraction: Automatically mapping domains, databases, and mailboxes into BoostonCP architecture.
  • Password Recovery: Scanning configuration files to establish database credentials.

Step 5: Post-Migration Synchronization

Once the progress bar hits 100%, perform these final steps:

  • Verify Websites: Click the "Websites" menu to ensure the domains are active.
  • Update DNS: Point your domain Nameservers or A records to the new BoostonCP IP.
  • SSL Re-sync: Navigate to the SSL tab for each domain and click "Install Let's Encrypt" to establish fresh certificates.
NEURAL ADVANTAGE: Your old server remains untouched. You can test your sites on BoostonCP using a local hosts file before making the final DNS switch.
